What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
It's possible that you've lost your Nissan key fob or it just stopped working. Before you contact the dealership or get scared, retrace your steps to check where you last saw it.
It's not that difficult to replace the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon be able to get the hang of it.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with the key fob that came with your Nissan is a vital element of the car's modern keyless entry system. It connects to the vehicle's electronic system to open doors or start the engine, and comes with a handy design that is easy to keep in your pocket. Key fobs also come with other benefits, such as lockout protection. This feature ensures that you don't get locked out of your vehicle with the keys inside.
Contrary to earlier models of key fobs, that required you to put the key in an ignition slot to access the onboard systems of your vehicle, smart keys work wirelessly. When you walk by the vehicle your Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This could include opening and locking the doors, raising or lowering the tailgate, and even starting up the engine.
Certain smart key models have a concealed metal key to allow valet parking. This key can be pulled from a release on the side of the Smart Key fob to secure the trunk or glove box prior to handing it to the valet. The Smart Key fob also features a charging pocket which can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use.
If your Nissan's Intelligent Key fob isn't working as it should, then you'll require a replacement of its batteries. Most fobs have CR2025 or CR2032 batteries, and instructions on how to replace the batteries can be found in your owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
Nissan Intelligent Key Fobs permit you to unlock the doors of your car and start the engine with just pressing a button. It also allows you to activate presets that are based on your preferences. For example, you can adjust the seat and mirrors to maximize comfort. You can control the music through your smartphone so you don't have to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs include an antenna built-in which sends a signal to your vehicle when you press a button or approach it. When your vehicle receives this signal, it will activate the system, opening doors or locking them, starting the engine, as well as opening the trunk. If you'd like to test out the fob, stand a distance away from your vehicle and press the buttons. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds sound, you have successfully programmed the Intelligent Key Fob.

To do this, remove the hidden key from the key fob and then open its battery compartment. Replace the old battery with a new one after removing the previous one. Make sure that the positive face of the new battery is facing in the same direction it did in the previous one. Remote Start
Nissan remote start enables drivers to heat or cool their vehicles from outside insofar as they're within the operating range. The ignition on the car is activated when the driver pushes a button on their key fob or smartphone application. Flip your fob inwards, and press the hidden latch on the backside of the keypad. Once the key pad is fully opened, remove the old battery and replace it with a brand new one, making sure that it is in line with the size and configuration of the existing battery. Be sure to reinstall the key that was hidden and put back the key fob in the correct way before closing the case. Lockout Protection
Lockout protection eliminates nuisance lockouts caused by the impedance relay failing. A specific module within the power control unit detects the activity of the impedance relay and turns off the output. This feature is only available for vehicles equipped with the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu for the vehicle.

These accidents are often caused by stored energy that was not properly released. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems can help avoid these accidents by making sure that machines are completely off until the authorized individual releases them.
The LOTO system is comprised of a number of locks, tags, and other devices that isolate, secure or shut off a machine from an electrical source. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel must be educated on the use of these devices. These devices include, but aren't limited, to locks, chains and padlocks. Each device is identified and labeled with the date and time of its application and the name of the person who is authorized to use it and the reason for the tag-out or lockout (repair, maintenance, etc). It must be stated clearly that these devices are not to be removed until the LOTO procedure is completed.
